Lo que comienza como un melodrama en el que Efra\u00edn se enamora de Alicia, quien est\u00e1 comprometida con el poderoso y vengativo Uribe, deviene en un relato moderno de viaje al coraz\u00f3n de la selva, en el que seremos testigos de las condiciones humillantes de los campesinos del sur y el nacimiento de una rebeli\u00f3n armada.
